Borrowing from vernacular architectural forms and artifacts of Nigeria, the guest house is conceived as monolithic seemingly sculptural object. Material and colors are selected to amplify its cultural expression. A vehicular path passing through the space serves as a secure drop-off point and differentiates service and guest accommodations from the main house. A central lobby space open up-to the roof level is used to organize spaces around. It also creates a visual connection between different levels and helps users to orient themselves within the house. A partially enclosed yet completely open to the sky terrace on the second level serves as a platform to accommodate various activities and as a place to enjoy the tropical climate and the surrounding scenery as well.
