Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding is a short film about Akwasi McLaren’s unique way of seeing the world around him and his thoughts and observations on the application of ecological design and traditional typologies in Ghana’s stunning area of Cape Three Points.

These publications document the outcomes of the world’s first and only uncurated Guerrilla Biennales of 2014+ 2016 Pretoria, South Africa. It illustrates the powerful impact of citizen interventions by sidestepping bureaucracy, thus democratizing creativity. The legacy and impact can still be enjoyed for years to come in our urban environment.

Building Ethiopia is a collaboration of over 70 architects, engineers, planners, conservationists, artists, educators, students and other professionals. It is an attempt to provoke constructive discussions about the past, the present and the fast-approaching future of Ethiopian architecture, and its tremendous potential and formidable challenges.

How can the intricate social networks of informal settlements inform future architectural interventions? ’Weaving the Urban Fabric: Examining the Significance of Community’, is my research as the 2016 recipient of the RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship. A global study extending from Addis Ketema, Ethiopia investigating community worldwide.

Book published under the scope of the research project: “EWV_Exchanging Worlds Visions: modern architecture in Lusophone Africa (1943-1974) looking through Brazilian experience established since the 1930s”, funded by FCT (PTDC/AUR-AQUI/103229/2008) and scientifically coordinated by Prof. Ana Tostões (Chair of Docomomo International, Full Professor at Técnico – Lisbon University).

The book approaches everyday issues that every student of architecture has to deal with, in an innovative, interactive and friendly way, guiding them throughout the course, finding out why are they doing Architecture, teaching not just architecture lessons but also life lessons and figuring out what is Architecture all about.
