Awards 2015 - Entries

Our inaugural awards show saw an unprecedented volume and variety of entries. 38 entries attracted 8 896 votes in the online Peoples Choice Awards and the website attracted over 10 000 unique visitors in the 6 month period of the awards promotion within South Africa.

Judges evaluated work on:

Habitat – the configuration of architectural space within the Social Gain definition. Innovation in architectural design. Evidence of user satisfaction of occupier.
Craft of architecture – the innovative exploration of materials and technique in the construction of the project
Possibilities for the evolution of public architecture – An opportunity to contribute toward knowledge in the field; to mould public space and influence decision makers.
Quality of visual and written submission – The quality and the imagination of the submission forms and important part of the communication process.

Our school adoption strategy: 1. Engage the community 2. Design a vision framework and maintenance plan 3. Execute phased implementation of the kits of parts - structure, shelter and enclosure.

Delft Exchange Towers

NEW THEATRE, Cannons Creek Independant School

The NEW THEATRE at Cannons Creek School is a flexible performance and gathering space that aims to enhance pupil’s learning experience through performance art, theatre and musical productions.

Batlagae Primary School

Vuna mining group approached Archaus to assist with the design of 10 new class rooms, a reception area and office at Batlagae as part of their social responsibility budget for the year.

Transitional Living Center

The Transitional Living Center represents a stepping stone from institutional to community based care for people with intellectual disabilities or mental illness.

Zipzap Circus School

Zipzap Circus School offers a unique learning experience unlike conventional schools. The proposed school in Salt River is a new building typography combining a circus, a theatre and a school.
