"The kasba of knowledge" is a college with architectural vocabulary inspired by the Moroccan heritage. Protected by a "wall" of ocher concrete and wrapped in a white "moucharabieh", this space aims to create an propitious atmosphere to learning by stimulating curiosity and the appetite for discovery.

Blurring Lines : Nima + Maamobi

The project questions the clogged watershed systems of the Nima Gutter which runs through the vibrant Nima and Maamobi informal districts, dividing the community with a physical boundary. Can this watershed be restored while incorporating existing socio-cultural activities and dynamic spatial transformation as acceptable ingredients for a design intervention?

Kigali Genocide Memorial - African Center for Peace
Rwanda
For the twentieth anniversary of the genocide, Aegis Trust, John McAslan + Partners, and MASS collaborated on a design for the new archives at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. The design features a testimonial space to record accounts of the genocide, but also provides spaces for reflection, education, exhibition, and learning.

The New Havana Primary School’s proposal was aimed at designing environmentally sustainable buildings, that would benefit the Havana community, Windhoek. By applying all three of Vitruvian principles of Architecture: durability, utility and beauty, a form that contributes positively to the learning environment is achieved and exciting spaces are created.

Malamulele Council Building strives to bridge formal programme, place-driven informal contextual identity through prominent civic space for the community. Boundaries between rational and organic, internal and external spaces are blurred in the exploration of new typology that celebrates biophilic interstitial spaces while responding to unique narratives of the place.
