The project demonstrate the impact of design in the quality of life for orphaned children or children from difficult backgrounds of poverty and abuse. The proposal embraces the idea of a learning community, exploring the role of architecture in facilitating interaction and reflection through spatial diversity in learning environments.

The New Havana Primary School’s proposal was aimed at designing environmentally sustainable buildings, that would benefit the Havana community, Windhoek. By applying all three of Vitruvian principles of Architecture: durability, utility and beauty, a form that contributes positively to the learning environment is achieved and exciting spaces are created.

Malamulele Council Building strives to bridge formal programme, place-driven informal contextual identity through prominent civic space for the community. Boundaries between rational and organic, internal and external spaces are blurred in the exploration of new typology that celebrates biophilic interstitial spaces while responding to unique narratives of the place.

The project reconciles two diverse, almost conflicting programmes, through a layered design approach. Designed for a retiring couple who wished to be elevated with nature and comprise of a single main bedroom, with living and kitchen amenities. They were comfortable with an open brief, however the budget was R1.5mil. DMV Architecture was appointed architect, project management and responsible to oversee all construction works.
