The Eco-Innovation hub is providing a strategy to revitalise individual mini hubs into creative clusters. By unifying individual creative units into a whole, then link these with shared spaces, to create a collaborative community. The collaborative community will generate a substantial experience in encouraging local talent towards building a vibrant and culturally rich society. These spaces will as a whole act as an incubator for collaboration and creative events which will enable creatives to learn from each other. Spaces for performative exhibition, reading, and leisure will be shared by all creative zones and act as an interface between the creative units. The interface will be a platform for the creative units to exchange ideas. An exchange of ideas will create a system where the cycle of creativity and learning is completed through architectural interventions like amalgamating forms. The spaces within the hub are envisioned as flexible and have ability to evolve organically to adapt to any purpose. The capability of the hub to evolve organically is achieved by qualities of the buildings such as innovative use of (local) materials, energy, and water. As a facility of such significance within the community, the hub will showcase innovative and sustainable approaches to building. Therefore, the design will be environmentally responsible and be a model in environmental health for the well-being of creatives and visitors. This requires solutions beyond low energy consumption. The other requirements are that the building should be full of light, and respect the flow of prevailing winds to let in fresh air for cooling. This integration of the building within its environment will provide an environment of learning, and well-being. Therefore the project will be committed to: • Energy efficiency and conservation through the use of alternative sources of energy like renewable energy sources (solar energy). • Use of water sensitive urban design which respects the urban drainage system. • Integrating water drainage with landscape design on site. • Waste minimisation by recycling • Protecting human health through improving air quality and designing shading elements to prevent direct penetration of light into the buildings. • Protecting the social and cultural environment by using Eco-friendly materials.
