Situated on the borders of a national nature reserve, this rural University campus is carefully inserted into an ecologically sensitive site, respecting and framing the context and providing an alternative teaching platform for training, research and community programmes.

OVD525 is a private home located in Bantry Bay, Cape Town. The house was conceived as a series of horizontal slabs containing gardens, decks and pools which slide between two massy, shielding vertical elements at the flanking ends. The living spaces are formed in the voids between these slabs.

THE DESIGN FOCUSES ON REGENERATING ICONIC HANS HALLEN STRUCTURE, MAINTAINING THE SPIRIT OF THE ORIGINAL BUILDING, WHILE INFUSING NEW LIFE. THE CONSEQUENCE IS AN ENGINEERED CO-EXISTANCE BETWEEN DYNAMICS, REINVENTION, IMPLEMENTING AN INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE STANDARD, IMPROVING DIALOGUE WITHIN WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND EXTENDING THE BUILDGIN’S LIFE SPAN THROUGH PROGRESSIVE BUILDING PRINCIPLES.

COF Outreach Village Primary School comprises of classrooms, kitchen, toilets, teachers accommodation, play areas and a biogas system to fuel the kitchen. Buildings are based on passive design principles; reflective roofs, shaded windows, cross-ventilation and stack effect. The addition of skylights in vent roofs allow for a well-lit learning environment

The building behaves as though it has always been on that warm Kenyan hillside with living grassed roofs that move with the air and connect it into the earth and forest. It is there but not there.

The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site places the African continent as the birthplace of humankind. Experience Lab is a new exhibition and event space for the Maropeng Museum. This abstracted cave allows an experiential artifice, conflating the spaces of the science laboratory with the sites of paleo-science discoveries.

Bisate Lodge is located in the natural amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone – the word bisate means ‘pieces’ in Kinyarwanda, describing how the cone was once whole but worn away by natural erosion, the lodge focuses on promoting the conservation of Mountain Gorillas.
